It's a late Middle English word originating from the Latin word 'pussillanimis.' Root words: 'pussilus' (meaning: very small, little) and 'animus' (meaning: mind, spirit, courage (and variations thereof)) with the English '-ous' ending added to it. The Greek equivilent is: 'olugopsukhos.'
